We’re looking for an Operations Coordinator to join our team! Have a read below – if this is you, we’d love to connect.

About us:

‘The Garden’ began as an idea over 20 years ago when a group of plant enthusiasts on the Sunshine Coast dreamed of creating a botanical garden for the community to learn from and enjoy.

Today, the Garden, a non-profit organization and Living Wage employer, showcases over 2,000 plant species across 40 acres in a coastal forest on the swiya of the shíshálh Nation.

Some of what we do: we engage with the local school district to teach youth about plant life cycles, pollinators and pond life; we partner with local conservation and environmental organizations for shared learning around biodiversity, and we grow food to support the local food bank and food security programs.

Visitors from all over the world come to see the native plants that grow in this region and learn about the supported ecosystems. Locals come to celebrate, birdwatch, paint, meditate, laugh and reflect.

The Garden is a special place, and all of us–the staff, Board members and volunteers–have shared values of learning from one another and being good stewards of this land.

If, like us, you believe that plants are for everyone, we’d love to work with you.

The Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden Society values the diversity of the people in our organization and the community we serve. Diversity at the Garden means fostering a workplace in which individual differences are recognized, appreciated, respected and responded to in ways that fully develop and utilize each person’s talents and strengths.

POSITION OVERVIEW / Operations Coordinator

Are you a budding naturalist with an appreciation for plants, biodiversity and all that they can teach us? Are you a natural people-person who enjoys building community and promoting the spirit of volunteerism? We want to meet you!

The Garden is seeking a full-time Operations Coordinator to support the overall success of the Garden. You will work closely with the Executive Director to carry out the mission and vision of the Society, and to make the Garden a place for the community to cultivate a relationship with plants.

Some of the work includes providing communications support, updating the Garden’s website and digital assets, helping to strengthen donor stewardship programs, growing the organization’s membership base, supporting volunteer management, event coordination, and operation and maintenance of the Pavilion.

Workdays are Friday – Tuesday; 8:30 am – 4:00 pm, with some evenings required to support with events.
